Hot Weather - Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July

Harington has put in place arrangements for students next Monday and Tuesday in light of the forecast for very hot weather in London.

Harington will remain open to students but if you would prefer that your student did not attend college on Monday and Tuesday then that is perfectly acceptable and we will record this is an authorised absence.  If students are not planning to attend please let us know.

For those students wishing to attend we will take all of steps we can to make sure they are safe and comfortable.

During heatwaves it’s important that everyone stays safe and makes sure they drink plenty of water and avoids being exposed to the sun for too long therefore we will modify the curriculum and activities for Monday and Tuesday to reduce the amount of physical activity and make inside spaces as cool and ventilated as possible. We have briefed our team to look out for signs of heat stress, heat exhaustion and heatstroke and have trained first aiders on site to ensure that everyone enjoys their day safely.

For those students attending we advise that they wear loose, light-coloured clothing to help keep cool and sunhats with wide brims and should be advised stay in the shade as much as possible especially when travelling. Sunscreen should be used to protect skin and children should be provided with plenty of water.

If you have any questions please get in touch with college office.  Thank you.
